Located on the best parcels of the gravelly terrace of Gunz, terroir of the largest Merlots in the world, Château Clinet is one of the most prestigious estates of the appellation.
Located in the highest part of the famous Pomerol plateau, Château Clinet benefits from an exceptional terroir, on the famous Günz gravelly terrace, cradle of the prestigious wines of the appellation. This area was bought in 1998 by Jean-Louis Laborde. The Laborde family works to transcend this exceptional terroir with a reasoned vineyard culture and the most natural winemaking. For the vineyard, a restructuring program of part of the vineyard has been carried out, and a lot of attention is given to daily care: tillage, trellising height and foliage ...
Formerly attached to the wines of Saint-Emilion, Pomerol has been able to win its own nobility since 1936, when it obtained its AOC status.(Denomination of Controlled Origin). With an area of less than 800 ha, it is the smallest of the major wine regions of Bordeaux. Pomerol is also the only major appellations in the region to have never known a hierarchical ranking. Camped on the Right Bank of the Dordogne, the climate is warmer than in the Medoc (Left Bank) and the soil is cooler and wet.
Blend :
Merlot 85%, Cabernet Sauvignon 12%, Cabernet Franc 3%.
Tasting notes :
Château Clinet 2012 unveils a purple-black dress. Its nose, very charming, exudes aromas of wild raspberries, blackberries and wild strawberries. This basket of fruit blends subtly with flavors of cocoa, toast, liquorice, vanilla and Madagascar pepper. The mouth is silky and intense. Its creamy texture diffuses a complex complex of ripe fruits and warm spices. The finish remains persistent and tasty.
