If the history of the field dates back to the 12th century with the Knights of Malta who used it as a relay on the road to Saint Jacques de Compostela, it is in the 17th century that a family Beauregard bequeaths its name to the Castle that it built.
The history of Château Beauregard dates back to the 12th century. The knights of Saint-Jean-de-Jerusalem (former name of the Knights of Malta) had here a small manor, former relay on the road to Santiago de Compostela. The Beauregard family had a building built in the 17th century, which was replaced in the Napoleonic era by the current residence designed by a pupil of Victor Louis. Château Beauregard was acquired in 1991 by Foncier Vignobles and since that date, the vineyard, the vat and the cellars have been entirely renovated.
A magic name for a terroir that is not less so. Located north east of the Libourne border, Pomerol is the smallest appellation of great Bordeaux wines, only 750 hectares of vines. Its exceptional terroir of clayey gravel sees Merlot flourish, the king of the region. The grape varieties of Beauregard are 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.
Blend :
Merlot 75%, Cabernet Franc 25%.
Tasting notes :
Fruity in their youth, Château Beauregard wines reveal the full depth and sweetness of the great wines of Pomerol.
